We will talk about that, winter.  When you submit to an agent, the first thing most of them go is to google your name.  :-)  You really do want to have a readership before you have a novel to sell them.  That makes for a 1000 book first sales week, which is a very nice momentum to start out with!   Wink

Hi,

Check out May/June issue of writers Digest. There is a great article on epublishing with a list.

There are some ins and outs to consider in epublishing.  You can format your work and easily upload to Kindle or to the Nook option and control of the price is yours.  But if you go through an epublisher such as smashwords, you will get easier and more complete distribution, but be sure to understand your pricing options.  In all cases, you will pay the publisher a portion of the cover price in order to place the work, so compare your options.   You may want to be able to do a free giveaway, for example, and some publishing options will allow you a brief free period, while others will not.  Pay attention to your royalties and pricing structure.   Loss leaders are good, as long as you have something for people to buy that does indeed make you some profit!  Also, realize that readers are getting savvy about quality indicators and lots of free books by an author suggest poor quality.  One free ebook, say the first in a series, or a free novelette or short story that would otherwise be 99 cents is an attractive giveaway.   Four free books by an author with only five out suggests that maybe that fifth book really isn't worth the money.    Limited time offers are great, but  not unless you have a big enough email list to make it worth your while.  People have to know that limited time offer is out there, so work on your email lists, ladies and gentlemen!
