Thanks Spellbound. Back in October, I started doing online surveys as a way to make some extra money. It hasn't paid me that much, but it's something.

I don't care if the job market is flooded and saturated with health care jobs! I'm sticking with communication; no matter what. This is what I'm good at and this is what I'm sticking with.

Always good to work with what you're good at, but a little experimentation, now and then could open other windows.

I graduated with an AA degree in Animal Science Veterinary Science Technician. Worked in that field 12 years and helped update the clinic. He was thrilled with his increased income. Also worked as a realtor-hated it, in an aquarium shop-who told me they didn't think I'd make it. To their surprise I was increasing their sales and they started me on a bonus program, helped open a B.J.'s-good job but hated working in the liquor store. They moved me there after doing well in the store. They told me I managed to get the liquor sales above the wine sales and they wanted my secret. I told them I didn't like working there and couldn't they move me back into the main store. They refused. I've also worked in a bookstore and have been a stay at home mom.

At fifty I'm still able to move on if I have to. In my earlier years I learned how to farm and run a tractor, milk, sheer and other farm animal related things. Wouldn't want to start that now, but the information is there if needed.

My writing is all over the place too. I have several picture books done, waiting for the market to get better and/or an artist-I'm a stick artist only, several young adult novels, a science fiction series, some poetry and flash fiction. As a matter of fact, a piece of flash fiction I wrote about a year ago was just accepted to be part of a collection to be eBooked in July. And it's nothing like my normal writing. It's a piece that makes me blush when I think about the fact I wrote it. Talk about character's giving you the lowdown as mbj451 found out.

Anyway, do your best and write what feels comfortable, but don't be afraid to try something new.

Louisa May Alcott, author of the Little Women and other series, hated writing in that genre, but loved the money. Where would we, or she, be if she stuck only to what she liked?

I have submitted practically all my short stories to Gimmertrain, but they've all been rejected. I have heard that they're a tough magazine to break into. But I like keeping in touch with Linda.
