I'm very excited as I just set up my very first blog tour for a book release. Enchanted Book Tours designed a gorgeous banner to promote the release day party and tour.

Nice, Angelia, and very catchy!   Keep us posted on how it goes!  Have you beefed up your website landing page for more visitors?  Maybe a giveaway pdf short story or signed bookmark or something like that for those who come there and sign up for your newsletter/mailing list?

Updating my website for this new release is something I will be tackling this week.

No email list yet. Duck and cover.  Wink I'm getting there. It is on my to do list.

Angelia, dear, I'm going to give you a stern talking to here. The email list is MUCH MUCH more important than the website right now.  Yes, you do need a good website, a nice clean landing page, but how will you get traffic? When was the last time you searched for random websites?  If someone googles 'romance writers' where will you be on the list?  If they don't know your name, how can they find you?  The coin of today's promotional realm is the email list.  It allows you to stay in touch with your fans and it allows them to forward your link on to their Facebook friends, BFF, coworker or what have you. 'Check this out'.   That means you need a blog and an email sign up.  Awebber does this well.  There are lots of options.  Now you can inform all your fans that this week only, this ebook is free, or you've just released a cool new story as a 99 cent kindle edition.  You can go to someone with a romance blog whose readers might like your stories and invite her to be your blog guest for a week if you can then be her guest.  And you tell her you'll advertise to your email list which has xxxx members.  And she'll advertise you to her list. Might be a good time to offer that pdf of a new short story as a free bonus for anyone who signs up right now....

The email list is the coin of the realm in today's internet promotional universe.  It's really not hard to set up, either.

Spellbound. I see lots of people using Constant Contact and Mail Chimp.

I signed up for the free version of mail chimp and am figuring it out right now. Once you hit a certain number of subscribers you then have to bump up to paid. ConstantContact as a free trial period. But at this point I don't want to pay for a monthly email newsletter service until I know how frequently I will be sending them out and how many subscribers I will have.

You can of course also do them on your own for free either through your mailing lists you might have through your website hosting company or through yahoogroups (I know a couple of authors who use that).

Angelia,

Thank you for your suggestions. I'm thinking I need to know these things and start building a list.

You know Mary I have no idea what good sales would be. LOL I had 3 sales before the announcement - no idea where they came from. On release day, 4 on B&N and 2 on Amazon. Sales have trickled in since then. I really wish we could track sample downloads as I feel I'd have a better idea of knowing if this publicity blitz was actually driving people to check the book out. I'm looking more at the month as a whole and will compare it to two of my other releases and see how the numbers for the release month compare between the three titles to see if it was worthwhile.

Sample download info would be great. Are you SURE you can't do that?

Yeah, I've sent them emails requesting it and have been informed they would send it off to the appropriate channels. We had hope when they unveiled the new dashboard it would include sample downloads, but it doesn't, they just added in separating free downloads from paid.
