I'm working on assignment 4 and I have some footnotes.

I noticed that none of the non-fiction stories in Voices have footnotes. I'm guessing those are an informal printing and what's in the article is sufficient.

Is assignment 4 supposed to be informal? If you recommend the footnotes, which format do you recommend I follow?

Thank you,

Dennise, the examples in Voices are all from popular commercial magazines, they are not from scientific or scholarly journals.  You do not use footnotes, ordinarily, in commercial popular nonfiction. They are used in scholarly journals where other scholars want to verify the sources.  In popular/commercial magazines, the editor may want a source list for his/her own verification, but no footnotes. You can add a source list as a sidebar, a separate file, if you choose. The editor may or may not use it.
