I am sending a story to a magazine that ask for a 4 to 5 line author bio. Does this go on the cover page? If so, where exactly? If not, where then? I am unpublished so what are they looking for with this bio? Any no-no's?

Mostly, they want anything that will interest readers, or that pertains to what you have written. If you write a story about Vietnam, for example,  and are a vet, you'd say so. Just include whatever you think readers might like to know and anything that connects to the story.

Do you have any clips? Sent something to Mary for the newsletter? If so, that is publication and you can count it. If not, do something for the newsletter and get some publication points. It's all helpful. Ever write something for your local paper? That counts too. Not all clips have to result in payment. I used to write book reports for a local paper in the Keys. Again, look hard and see if there's ever been a time your writing has been in public. That counts. Did you work on a newsletter? Do you have a blog? A website? Facebook? These all count toward your blurb.

Yea, spellbound!  Thank you!  Thank you!   Folks, why DO you think I run the review section in the Newsletter, huh? Huh? It's to give you all a chance to pick up a clip or two. No, I don't take all comers, but if you do a good job and are brief and coherent, I'll run it and it's a clip.

As I keep saying....   Cheesy
