Yesterday I received an invitation to ghost-write a factual and sizeable chunk of this person's life. I have no specific details yet, but feel it might be a way to get additional writing experience and income. (Are ghost-writers paid by the book, or by the page???)

It could be a project that could involve a great deal of time, on the other hand, it could be rewarding.

Whether I accept or reject the project, the request made me feel somewhat confirmed as a writer, one step closer to goals.

Depending on the person's time constraints, I'm not likely to say no. (I'll want to allow myself enough time, though, because I have other personal writing projects running.)

Outstanding.

Great news.

Don't know much about ghost writing except that a friend's sister does it and her writing is always on the best seller's list and has become many movies.

Hey, good for you, Voca!  I have no idea how ghost writing works in regard to payment, but it might be a wonderful experience!  Smiley

Voca, ghost writers are usually paid by the project, told by the publisher that the book is to be this many words long and the payment will be thus.   The key need in ghost writing is to preserve the person's voice while making the story accessible, well structured, and engaging.

Thanks for the info, Mary. I've heard ghost writing is difficult and may not be a good way to go forward for beginners. However, I figure you learn something from every type of writing project.

But I don't have very much time for it. I plan to take the LR Novel course. I've been assigned to you. I hope that works out!  Will be contacting LR within the next 2- 3 weeks.

Ghost writing requires enough skill that you, the real author, are totally invisible in the piece. Very few novice writers can actually pull that off.  It takes some experience to control your voice and style. that completely.
