Might be the wrong section, but anyway.

Here's a question that while I admit is a minor detail, not to mention incredibly strange, my writer mind just will not let it go.

For my YA novel, I'm writing from a wolf's perspective in full, to the point that I avoid human phrase as best I can, and they see cars and tents as massive rock beasts and strange boulders made of thin hide.  This develops an annoying situation when my POV character encounters a pick-up truck.  Describing it is easy, but I wanted to give the readers something to help them understand what it is.  Got a bird that's somewhat multilingual that follows my POV character around a lot.  Somehow, someway, he heard and understood a tune in an ad for this pickup truck.

I need a modern ad that he might have picked up on that's somewhat song-like, but doesn't use the company name in it.  The age old "Like a Rock" tune by Ford is perfect, except how many of my teenage readers will recognize it?  I'd prefer tunes that don't have the company name in them, but I'm willing to let that go if I must.  I'm also willing to run with "Like a rock" sense it works so well in so many ways.  Can't decide which way to go, thus I am here.

Any thoughts, ideas, and opinions are welcome.  Thank you for your time.

I don't have much advice, but I must correct one tidbit of your info.  Being a Ford fan, it's my duty to tell you that the "Like a Rock" song is for Chevy, not Ford. Wink

Ford--"tough".    Wish I could think of one for Mitsubishi-- mine has 289,000 miles on it and no problems.

what kind of truck is it? a pick-up? i've heard ppl call my SUV a truck - i strongly disagree with them! or is it a 16 wheeler?

if u dont want to give a company name then how abt let the bird give a mixed mssg. he obviously overheard all the ads and muddled them so he says "its one of those that are built tough and run deep!" ...sthg of the sort..

To be clear Humi, standard pickup truck.  Probably crew cab if it matters.  I forgot to mention the bird more sings his sentences than actual talking, but I can still play with that and see what I come up with.

And thanks Brandon.  Some GM faithful I am. lol

It's tough, Sun, but don't sweat it too much.  No matter how carefully you choose your ad-song, some readers aren't going to get it, just don't make it critical.
