May be wrong place, but what is the difference between contemporary and literary fiction?

never the wrong place mbj. contemporary I think is set in modern times and literary fiction is far more serious. Google should give you plenty of answers if you go there.

I don't see a problem. I've read several memoirs where the narrator used his/her real name, but changed some of the names of people in the book. Like relatives who didn't want their real names used.

Sorry, I missed this thread.  Contemporary fiction is simply fiction set in the here and now of 2012 or close to it.  Literary fiction uses literary forms and conventions, which are quite distinct from contemporary, which is a genre of 'popular fiction'.
