Hi all! It's been a  while since I've been on here, lol, been crazy busy with work and school, and I haven't had much time at all really. But I was wondering if anyone could help with a question I have. See, I'm just wrapping up my A.S Degree (Yay!! Cheesy Cheesy) and I needed one more class to graduate. I've also been taking up a lot of responsibility at work and I really don't have time for another class right now. I was thinking, that since the B.I.P. course is worth college credits, maybe it would transfer. My college will only accept transcripts with a grade of C or higher...so since our work isn't necessarily graded, does that mean I won't be able to use it?

Hi Sammy,

To find out how to get college credit for your BIP course, call LongRidge: 800-624-1476.

I think your instructor might need to complete some sort of written evaluation—not sure, though.

Sammy, I was able to transfer my credits to Central Connecticut State University when I did my bachelors degree. I forgot how I did it. I know I had to pay for it. But it was worth it! This from the LR website: The Connecticut Board for State Academic Awards recommends that graduates be awarded seven college credits. You can obtain these seven college credits from Charter Oak State College—which functions under the credit-granting authority of the Connecticut Board.

You can then have these credits submitted on a Charter Oak transcript to another college or university. If you are a teacher, the transcript will be sent to your local school board, at your request. Full information is available from the Long Ridge Writers Group Registrar to help you take advantage of this opportunity.

Sammy, any time we graduate a LR student who is seeking college credits we have to evaluate that student ...did he/she complete the course work at college level or above?  It's a pass/fail grade.

Mary,

Thanks for the info on credits. I'd like to finish my degree and was wondering if these credits at LR can go toward an english, literature or writing degree? I have some college credits and hate to waste them, would be nice to have a degree to fall back on.
Thanks,

B

Beverly, you can call Student Services for the solid scoop on what you can and can't use those credits for: 1-800-624-1476.

Beverly--I'll see if I can dig out my paperwork from when I did all that. If I find it I will let you know! Smiley
